Common Testing Centre Questions
Has your educational institution or examining body advised you to book a proctored exam? You probably have lots of questions and are unsure what to expect for your next exam. Maybe you have a major career goal, certification, residency application or academic milestone on the horizon and you want to ensure that you are properly prepared. We can help. Here is a quick breakdown of the most common testing centre questions so you can plan ahead and focus on acing your exam, instead of worrying about where to park or which calculator to bring.

How much does a proctored exam usually cost?

There is a standard fee of $60 CAD for proctored exams that last anywhere from one to three hours. There is an additional $10 CAD charged for every additional hour beyond this.

What form of payments are accepted?

Our online booking system accepts credit card payments from either Visa or Mastercard.

Can you reschedule if something comes up?

Sure thing, exams can be rescheduled for a simple $20 rescheduling fee. Send an email to testcentre@ashtontesting.ca and our centre coordinator will assist you.

Can you cancel the exam if your circumstances or needs have changed?

Unfortunately, all our proctored exam fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. Be sure you know what is required of you before booking so you can avoid disappointment.

What do you need to bring on the day of your exam?

Make sure that you have the correct identification. All proctored exams require you to bring a valid government-issued identification card that clearly shows your photograph and also has your signature. Not sure if your identification qualifies? Review these helpful examples of acceptable identification as listed on the website for the Government of Canada.

Do you need to bring a pen or pencil too?

No. Writing materials will be provided to you by our team. When appropriate, we also supply calculators, but you can touch base with your examining body or educational institution to find out whether or not they will allow you to bring your own calculator.

Where are the most affordable and convenient places to park your car?

Our testing centre is located at 1190 Melville Street and there are parking garages nearby at 745 Thurlow Street and 1166 West Pender Street. There is also ample street parking. Just be mindful of the time limits on your meter, because you will not be able to leave your exam midway through to add money to the meter or use the parking app on your phone during the exam.

What are the best options if you are taking public transit?

ATS is conveniently located near Burrard Skytrain Station and is within easy walking distance of several bus stops. The closest bus routes are for the 5, 10, 19 and 22 routes. You can also take the 246, 240, 250 and 253 routes for service from North Vancouver or West Vancouver. Wherever you are coming from, we recommend using the Transit app to plan your route and get instant updates along the way.

Are there possible considerations or accommodations for accessibility?

Absolutely. Our aim is to support everyone with diverse needs and experiences. Please do not hesitate to reach out to our team by emailing testcentre@ashtontesting.ca or giving us a call at (604) 628-5783.
