Why Do Exam Security Measures Exist at Testing Centres?

These procedures are required by the exam providers, such as Pearson, PSI, Prometric, to ensure the integrity of their assessments.

What Security Measures Can You Expect?

To ensure compliance with exam company regulations, test takers should be prepared for the following:

Identity Verification

• Present a valid government-issued ID.
• Some exams may require biometric checks like fingerprinting or facial recognition.

Prohibited Items Check

• All personal belongings, such as phones, electronic devices, watches, bags, and even some clothing items, must be stored in secure lockers provided at the centre.
• Any devices that cannot be completely powered off or fit into secure storage will not be allowed in the centre.

Physical Inspection

• Clothing such as sleeves and pant legs may need to be rolled up to confirm no concealed items are present.
• Eyeglasses, ties, and accessories might be inspected to ensure no recording devices are hidden.

Security Scanning

• A metal detection wand is used to check for prohibited items.

Clothing Restrictions

• Bulky or loose outerwear is not allowed in the testing room unless part of religious apparel.
• Hats or headgear not worn for religious purposes must also be removed.

Behaviour in the Testing Room

• Once inside, no food, drinks, gum, or personal items are allowed.
• Devices must remain off; any powered-on electronic device will result in immediate dismissal and forfeiture of exam fees.
